The rhetoric of health care reform

Welcome to Competing Diagnoses! As a political scientist teaching in an undergraduate health policy program, I’ve been thinking and writing about health care reform for two decades. At Providence College, I teach courses on health care in popular culture and health care reform in America that reflect a narrative approach to studying public policy. This blog extends the analysis presented in my recently published book, Cries of Crisis: Rethinking the Health Care Debate (University of Nevada Press, October, 2012).  Each week, postings will explore the both the competing diagnoses of what ails our health care system and the wide range of treatments proposed by policymakers, providers, and pundits.
